Bear Mountain State Park Bear Mountain NY Bear Mountain is in the Catskills Mountains and is only around 45 minutes from Northern NJ. You can hike or drive to the top of the mountain and see amazing inspiring views of the Hudson River Valley. There is plenty of space to wander around or to play frisbee. They also have a picnic area and a zoo that the kids will love. The ice skating rink is open in the winter. The park has an Inn if you want to make it a getaway with a restaurant and bar.
