McGoverns Tavern best Essex County NJ bars Old-school neighborhood bar
McGovern's Tavern has become a staple in the Rutgers-Newark campus community. Although they have remained a low-key neighborhood bar, their patrons are loyal and continue to flock here weeknights and weekends for their draft beer selection, Irish fare, bar food, specials and events.
Happy Hour specials run daily from 4 to 7pm with $3 domestic drafts. During Monday Night Football patrons can enjoy $9 pitchers and $4 wings during the game. Trivia Tuesdays start at 10pm with $9 Coors Light Pitchers! Thirty Thursdays feature $5 Well Drinks from 4 to 7pm. The food menu is complete with all of the bar foods you can think of!
