Learn Through Play and Discovery!
The Newark Museum, located in Essex County, is the state's largest museum. It holds a vast collection of American art, decorative arts, and contemporary art, as well as arts of Asia, Africa, the Americas and the ancient world. The museum’s numerous programs are appropriate for young children, teens, families, and adults of all ages. Interactive Galleries are appropriate for children toddler-age through pre-teen. Each gallery explores either a different part of the world, a different decade, even a different planet.
Look/Touch/Learn: Tibet explores the museum's extensive and world-renowned collection of sacred and secular Tibetan objects.
1784 Old Stone School House teaches children about school days from long ago.
The Planetarium and Planetarium Gallery set the stage for discovery and offers a spectacular platform for interactive learning about astronomy, space, and planetary science.
Toddlers can also take part in Creative Play, a program specifically designed for pre-school children to express their creativity in a safe environment. Creative Play takes place every Saturday and Sunday. Visit the website for hours of and information.
