Autism Speaks is the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization. It is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
Autism Speaks has committed more than $500 million to its mission, the majority in science and medical research. It provides free toolkits to families affected by autism, employment and housing support for adults on the spectrum, and grant opportunities for autism service providers. The New Jersey Chapter of Autism Speaks has awarded $2.3 million in local and community research grants, $257,000 in community service grants, and $179,000 to NJ residents affected by unplanned hardships. It is the 15th state to pass autism insurance reform.
