Special Needs Martial Arts!
Sensory Taekwon-Do is a unique and innovative martial arts program for children on the Autism Spectrum. Dr. Kerry Escamilla, DC is the Director and Innovator of the program. This 2nd degree black belt is also a neurologist with a background in early childhood spectrum disorders. They offer martial arts classes, physical training, exercise programs, birthday parties and after-school activities.
This program is unique because it is designed specifically to accommodate those on the Autism Spectrum. They are also happy to accept children with ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia, as well as those individuals with learning and memory disorders. Sensory Taekwon-Do also offers special classes for adults. Building upon advanced neurological research, their programming stimulates the areas of the brain that incorporate balance, spatial awareness, muscle coordination, strength and working memory. These activities are also designed to engage all five senses. Their dojos are located in Bergenfield and Warwick, NJ.
