The Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, NJ is the tallest lighthouse in the state and a great place to visit if you are visiting the Shore. As you take a tour of the lighthouse and climb the 228 steps to reach its highest point, you will take a step back in time to 1857 when it was first lit. People visiting this NJ Shore attraction can also take pride in knowing that they are not only visiting the state’s tallest lighthouse but the country’s third tallest lighthouse and a 150-year-old historical site. While this Shore attraction is open year round, the hours of operation change on a seasonal basis. They are open longer hours in the summer months due to appropriate weather and shorter months in the winter.
