The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary promote an understanding of the relationship between people and the environment through their various programs that incorporate the arts, sciences and the humanities. Founded in 1923 this Arboretum includes 16.45 acres of woodlands, 3 miles of trails and a diverse population of flora and fauna species.
Developed as a place where wild things can grow without fear of harm and a place where people could enjoy what nature has to offer, The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum now provides a ton of educational opportunities like field trips, family programs, scout programs as well as adult workshops and a summer camp.
The mission of the Arboretum is to "foster and promote environmental awareness, education, and stewardship within the community." Through their forest conservation and educational programs, they have been succeeding ever since they first started conserving the land.
